Advice on jobs

My cousin and his friend visited me the other day to ask for an advice regarding getting jobs. They want to know how it is with interviews as well as how to negotiate a good salary. They thought of me because my cousin remembered I gave advice to some relatives a couple of years ago and all those relatives were able to get the jobs they want with good salaries to boot!

So I told them how to go about in interviews, how to maneuver the interview to go to the salary and benefits and how to sell themselves and their limited work experiences to the interviewers.

Preschool teaching

Preschool teaching is Wallie’s passion. You can tell from the number of ideas she has for the little ones. She also has a lot of pretty things she uses for entertaining the kids. Preschool books, cards and stuff that kids will surely enjoy without them knowing that they are also learning a lot from.

She is planning to open her own preschool. She is ready to order the preschool furniture as well as some other stuff needed for the school. She plans to open just for 20-30 little kids. And then she will see when she can expand from there.

Plan B

Always have a Plan B. Or even a Plan C for that matter. You cannot just rely solely on Plan A all the time. You and I know that. Plan A could fail or be exhausted and then what? You are left with nothing. That’s why even if you have medicare already, still look into getting one of the medicare supplement plans. You know, for when something is not covered by Medicare.

When you have a sick love one, you only want the best treatment for him/her. With a medicare and medicare supplement plan, you know you are covered and can afford the medical treatment you need.

Security and comfort

There’s security and comfort in being prepared. Ella got sick and had to quit work to recuperate. Thank goodness she has a Blue Advantage health plan that she used for the medical expenses. She is now using her savings to tide her over until she can go back to work.

Without the health plan and the savings, Ella will surely be stressing herself out thinking where she can get the money she can use for the medical expenses. And for her recuperation.

Garden love

A garden enthusiast. That’s how we call our neighbor Mr. Tan. You can see him tinkering in his garden day and night. He discovered his passion for gardening when he suffered a minor stroke a couple of years ago. With nothing to do at home, he started planting a rotten tomato he found in the fridge. And then it didn’t stop there. There’s the avocado and the bean sprouts and so on.

Now, he is into getting and installing hydroponic systems in his garden. He is very excited about it and has been talking to other garden enthusiasts like him.

The Last Song

The Last Song

Whenever I hear the song When I Look At You by Miley Cyrus it reminds me of The Last Song. It’s the movie’s theme song. What I remember the most is the touching scene wherein Jonah, Ronnie’s younger brother, was trying his best to finish the window left by their ailing father. I really cried during that scene. While the little kid was crying, my sister and I were crying, too.

I don’t really like Miley Cyrus. I am not that crazy with the novels of Nicholas Sparks. But this particular book and movie, I really, really love!

New campaign

Andy will be launching a new campaign for the company’s newest product. He heads the marketing department and he wants to go all out in their new campaign. Their department is targeting an end of the third quarter boom in sales. He contacted a printing business to help them print the customized leaflets they are giving away during their launch.

The printing business they contacted can help them print bulk leaflets and can even custom design one for them, if they are not satisfied with their current leaflet design. It’s all up to them. You can feel the energy in the marketing department now. All they need to do is strengthen their marketing plan while waiting for the printing business to finish their leaflets.

Kids and vacations

When you think of kids and vacation in the same breath, you think of Orlando vacations. Kids love theme parks, right? Well, adults love it, too! So if you are going for a vacation with the family, choose Orlando. You can never go wrong with that city.

Think of park rides, games, cotton candies, and lots of kids roaming around the place. That’s an Orlando vacation for you. Of course Orlando also have something for the adults to enjoy. There’s the beach and the theme rides designed for the more mature vacationists.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

Rooney Mara

Rooney Mara, whom we’ll first see in The Social Network alongside Justin Timberlake, will play the title role in the much-anticipated film adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. There were reports that she beat out Natalie Portman, Ellen Page and Carey Mulligan for the role. I just hope that she’s really good. The book is one of the best books I’ve read and I was actually gunning for Emma Watson to play the title role. But let’s see. I’m giving Rooney Mara a chance to prove that she’s the better choice.

The movie is set to be shown on December 21, 2011.

Wall lantern

Sedona

I have always wanted one of the Designers Fountain Lighting products. My friend Abby told me about it. Where other women is into make-up and clothes, Abby’s into lighting. My choice is the Designer Fountain “Sedona” Entrance Wall Lantern. It has the feel of the old world yet the beauty that will blend well even with a modern setting.

I want one for the entrance to our house. I love buying pieces that can also serve as conversation pieces for the guests visiting us at home.

Patrick McDreamy

Patrick Dempsey

Patrick Dempsey is the ultimate leading man in romantic comedies these days. I love him in Made of Honor! I believe he has mastered the dreamy look that’s why he’s called McDreamy. He’s one of the reasons why I stuck with Grey’s Anatomy. Seeing him there just makes my day.

I do wish he’ll be given more roles in other rom-coms and that soon enough he’ll follow the footsteps of my original McDreamy… George Clooney!

Knack for business

Madz is a wholesaler. She buys items by the bulk though Liquidation.com and then she sells it in her three shops located in different cities. That’s been her business since she’s in college. It’s been three years now, a year and a half since she graduated with a Business Administration degree. She really has a knack for business ventures. Her choice item is clothes. Be it for men, women or kids. She buys them by the bulk, as I’ve said, and then she resells it.

So far Madz’ shops are all doing good. Her pride? Her business is very liquid and has no liabilities. She plans to open one more shop at the ground floor of the company where her sister works. It will be her newest ‘baby’.

Going for the affordable ones

Ted’s car insurance will be expiring within two weeks. He is actively looking for an affordable car insurance to replace the plan he has right now. He is cutting down on expenses. He is actually eliminating a lot of his personal expenses like gold club memberships and the like. He is also going for generic items right now. Going for alternatives to the pricey items he buys for himself. But with the car insurance, he just wants a more affordable one. Of course, he won’t be eliminating it.

The Ghost Writer

The Ghost Writer

I saw this movie poster of The Ghost Writer while I was checking out movies currently being shown in Trinoma Mall. I immediately checked but the notice said that it is being exclusively shown in Greenbelt cinema only. I love movies with Ewan McGregor in it. Plus I’ve heard about the novel where this movie was based. Unfortunately, Greenbelt is not my area. I don’t like going there because cabs are hard to find especially during the night. I only go to SM North Edsa and Trinoma malls.

Since I can’t watch the movie now, I just bought the book! I will read it this weekend. It’s called The Ghost by Robert Harris. Can’t wait!

Business launch

A couple of years ago, I got some promotional items from a big shop that opened near the office I was working at that time. I kept the three items: a mug, a book bag and an ID lace. While I was organizing my stuff last weekend, I saw the three items I kept. I immediately remembered that a friend of mine who recently opened a business of her own needs promotional items for her business launch.

Items given away in a business or product launch and other events are normally kept by the persons who received it. I know from experience that as long as the item is functional, chances are it will be used until it can no longer serve its purpose. So my friend will be putting the company name, address and contact numbers as well as the company web site on mugs that will be ordered and given away.
